The Meigs SWCD Conservation Area is open to the public for low-impact outdoor recreation. Visitors may enjoy approximately two miles of hiking trails, explore the wetlands, observe wildlife and birds, visit the creek, picnic, or use the shelter house for gatherings and events.
The district does not allow overnight camping - the Conservation Area is open dawn to dusk.
Limited hunting is permitted at the Meigs SWCD Conservation Area by annual permit only. The District issues up to 25 hunting permits per year.
Hunters must obtain their permit in person at the Meigs SWCD office and provide proof of a valid Ohio hunting license. All state hunting regulations apply in addition to District rules.
The Conservation Area functions as a living classroom for conservation education in Meigs County. The District hosts a two-day summer youth conservation camp, provides field trip opportunities for schools and homeschool groups, and organizes educational events for adults throughout the year.
Programs may include conservation clinics, land management workshops, and hands-on demonstrations such as prescribed fire “learn-and-burn” events.
