Cost Share Programs

Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

EQIP is a voluntary program that provides cost-share and technical assistance to help landowners address specific natural resource concerns on their farm. Funding is available for practices such as cover crops, nutrient management, fencing, livestock watering systems, pasture improvements, and erosion control.

Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)

CSP supports landowners who are already using conservation practices and want to build on those efforts. Participants receive annual payments for maintaining existing practices and adopting additional conservation activities that improve soil, water, and wildlife habitat across their operation.

Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)

CRP offers annual rental payments and cost-share assistance to landowners who remove environmentally sensitive land from agricultural production. In exchange, landowners establish long-term conservation practices such as grasses, trees, buffers, or wildlife habitat.

Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP)

ACEP helps landowners protect and restore agricultural lands and wetlands through conservation easements. The program provides financial and technical assistance to preserve working farms, ranches, and wetlands while preventing future development and resource degradation.

H2Ohio Cost-Share Funding

Ohio Department of Agriculture’s (ODA) H2Ohio program is designed to reduce nutrient runoff by incentivizing producers to implement science based, proven best management practices (BMPs) on the farm.

Wildlife Habitat Initiative (WHI)

The Wildlife Habitat Initiative is a new USDA NRCS conservation program that offers incentive payments to eligible landowners who implement practices that improve wildlife habitat, such as improvements for grassland birds, pollinators, and other native wildlife. Primary focus is upland, grassland/early successional habitat.

Program availability, eligibility requirements, and funding opportunities may change. Contact the appropriate agency or Meigs SWCD for current information.
