Explore the Leading Creek Watershed!

Tucked away in a corner of southeastern Ohio, the Leading Creek Watershed is full of hidden wonders. Home to the Meigs SWCD Conservation Area, Skatopia, Wisteria, farms, a water trail, and a number of mom-and-pop businesses, the 150 sq mile area is a diversely woven landscape of rolling hills and rich history.

What's a watershed?

The Leading Creek Watershed is located in western Meigs County and portions of Athens County and Gallia County. Learn about the Leading Creek Watershed here! The Meigs SWCD works with state agencies as well as volunteers to implement outreach and restoration projects and monitor the watershed, which is affected by acid mine drainage and other impairments.
